Relentless Stage and Vans Off the Wall Stage
The Relentless Boardmasters in association with Vans 2009, 5-9th August, is the most complete event for lovers of music, surf and action sports. With 3 sites across Newquay offering surf, skate, bmx, daily live music acts and a music festival for 12,500 people the Relentless Boardmasters in association with Vans 2009 will be the highlight of the UK summer. Add to that a fresh injection of enthusiasm from exciting new deals with Relentless and Vans the event will be taken to a new level.

The Relentless Boardmasters in association with Vans today announce confirmed acts for the Relentless and Vans Off the Wall Stages. With The Streets and Cypress Hill confirmed to headline the main stage the supporting stages line ups cement 2009 as the best to date.
The Relentless Stage will be one of the most exciting line ups of the event this year.
Saturday 8th August sees The Noisettes, whose new album Wild Young Hearts, released last week, is a technicolour collision of pop, indie, hip hop and jazz all fronted by the brilliant Shingai Shoniwa. Their single, Don’t Upset The Rhythm, recently hit number 2 in the charts making the Noisettes one of the most exciting bands of the Summer.
Filthy Dukes, having set out as club promoters and remixers of artists such as The Rakes and Bloc Party hooked up with producer Mark Ralph to become what they are today. Their bleeping, popping analogue shakedowns are all elbows and knees and heart and soul. The Filthy Dukes single ‘Messages’, features vocals from Swedish hotshot Tommy Sparks who conveniently also features on the Relentless Stage
Tommy Sparks is a fusion/pop/alternative musician born in Stockholm, Sweden. He is well known for his songs "She's Got Me Dancing" and "I'm a Rope". With rave in his heart, a guitar in his hand and a mission on his mind, he’s creating blasts of life-affirming melody and empowering elegies. Fitting just as snugly into a ram-jammed superclub as it would at the gnarliest of rock festivals. Tommy’s tunes are here to remind people of the universal power of music to make you move.
Fanfarlo is a London-based indie pop band formed in 2006 by the Swedish musician Simon Balthazar. Utilizing instruments such as the trumpet, violin and mandolin as well as more commonplace instruments such as guitars and drums, they produce carefully arranged and infectious pop songs that are both uplifting and beautifully orchestrated.
Chew Lips has been described as "minimal dance-pop" and "coupling techno beats with smart-mouthed edgy vocals", influenced by LCD Soundsystem, Prince[7] and "Classic Pop". NME say "They've been together barely 12 months, but they've already got the capital in their pockets and have, in 'Solo, produced one of the most exciting singles of the year."
Fionn Regan is an Irish singer-songwriter who cites Bob Dylan and Neil Young as influences. Nominated for two Meteor Awards and the Mercury Music Prize, the End of History star only furthers his reputation when playing live.
The Vans off the Wall Stage, an addition to 2009, features a slightly heavier sound.
Headlining Saturday night are English five-piece hardcore punk band The Ghost of a Thousand. Accolades include nominations for Best British Newcomer from Kerrang and Best Live Band from Total Guitar. Having toured with the likes of the Gallows The Ghost of a Thousand are live specialists and will have the Boardmasters faithful rocking.
Hexes is a British punk band signed to Undergroove Records and in 2009 they plan to tour with Gallows and Middle Class Rut. On 2008's Eyes Like Knives EP they covered Death From Above 1979 song Blood On Our Hands.
HAUNTS deliver a dark and brooding manifesto with a stylish stomp and swagger that wouldn’t be out of place in swinging London. Raised on a diet of Bowie, Prince and Talking Heads, Haunts cut their influences with a sharp punk edge.
Turbowolf are building an electronic noise temple above the crumbled pillars of rock music. Godzilla guitar riffs battle broken junk-store keyboards while huge choruses smash into unhinged freak-outs. Constantly striving for new musical territory, the band are putting innovation, energy and fun back into rock n roll.
Many more acts to be announced across 4 stages.
