Pace is gathering in the oposal of the Marina development which will destroy one of Brighton's best waves. The British Surfing Association have issued a formal statement objecting to the Development:

The British Surfing Association would like to issue a formal statement about the proposed development at Brighton Marina.
Whilst the BSA recognizes that any development which enhances the facilities provided to surfers is a good thing, the BSA also recognizes the need to protect the Coast and any area regarded as a surf break.
The BSA feels that the consultation process surrounding this development has been lacking in certain information and feels that this development would be detrimental to an area of outstanding natural beauty and an area of great importance to surfers on the South Coast. Therefore the BSA is strongly objecting to this development on these grounds and will fully support the efforts of those surfers that would be affected by this development.

Matt Lloyd BSc (Hons) Executive Officer BSA

Other updates to the cause are that Natural England and the Environment Agency have now objected to the application. A summary of their objections is at: http://www.hurricaneforce1 2.com/Site/Brighton_2009.html

Ben Farwagi has spent time and money applying for Village Green status, which if anything will slow the whole process.

Mat Hammond is also planning to see Mary Mears, Head of Brighton and Hove City Council soon with a number of fellow surfers to discuss the proposal.
