A1Surf is proud to present its first surf movie and party night on Wednesday 3 December at Walkabout in Brighton.
And being Brighton we’ve decided to bring the classic Brighton surf movie 'notcalifornia' back to the big screen, some six years after it was made.
Prior to the screening of this, there will be a montage of some of Richard’s more recent mini-films, which were filmed in Devon and Cornwall.
The event also celebrates the 'notcalifornia' DVD launch. Richard has re-edited the movie onto DVD and has also included some ‘extras’. The DVD will be available to buy on the night.
As well as the movies, there will also be a prize raffle, with your chance to win some goodies kindly donated by our friends at Nineplus and Chilled Turtle. Proceeds raised will be donated to Surfers Against Sewage.
Richard Gregory said: "notcalifornia is a portrait of surfing in and around Brighton. exploring the five main breaks in the area, vividly expressing the different vibe of each place.
"This started life as an MA project, it was the enthusiasm of the Brighton surfers that grew it into a surf movie! The orange theme came from light penetrating polluted water from footage we took in the water at Shoreham harbour where a storm overflow pumps untreated sewage into the river a mile up stream."
David Somerville from A1Surf said: "We are really stoked to be able to put on this free surf movie night for the south coast surfing community.
"It’s particularly exciting as the feature film will be one that many of the old Brighton crew star in and the new crew may not have even seen yet."
