Brighton SAS - Movie Night
Chasing Waves (Mnegejar Ombak) by British film maker Dave Arnold, will be screening in Hove on Monday 21 of June, doors will be open from 7:30 and the screening will begin at 8pm. This is the 2nd screening to be held at The Brunswick in Hove and we hope it will become a regular feature of the local surfing landscape.
The Feature Film: Chasing Waves (Mengejar Ombak)
Winner of the 'Best Emerging Filmmaker' (for Dave Arnold and Tyrone Lebon) and the 'Best Original Score' Awards at the prestigious X-Dance Film Festival 2009, Utah, USA. Mengejar Ombak (Chasing Waves) is a documentary feature that offers a close and personal insight into the life of a young and very talented Indonesian surfer, Dede Suryana (current Indonesia Surf Champion and 2 time Gold Winner at Asian Beach Games). The film follows Dede as he embarks on his first serious season on the World Qualifying Series (WQS) - where he has been touted to become the first Asian to qualify for the World Championship Tour (WCT). This upcoming season will be the most important point in Dede’s career to date; will he obtain the results he desires? Or will Dede be temped to walk away from the money and focus on his true passion of free-surfing? (PHOTO CREDIT Jason Childs)
25% of all profits from ticket sales will go to SAS, so please come along and support a good cause, a talented film maker and the The Surf Screen.
The venue is easy to find: Brunswick Pub, 1 Holland Road, Hove, BN3 1JF
Entry is £3 on the door.
After the movie I'll be hanging about to discuss local SAS issues and plans with anyone interested.
