How are you?

Sean NolanSean 'the camera-man' Nolan is paddling his SUP 150 miles from Bristol to London. Why?! This is his story...

Me, I'm 45.. but I still feel like a teenager.. I'm really active.. I surf, Kite surf, wakeboard.. I go to the gym an do circuits an classes... I'm pretty into being fit.. I always have been.. I've lost nearly 20kg in the last 2 years... So I'm an active fit person.. a fairly young minded one.. but one with a heart problem...
2 years ago I found myself sat in the cardiac unit of my local hospital.. it really didn't seem right to me.. I'm fit yeah? How can tis be? Me with a heart problem??

That day I was fitted with a heart monitor... I had an irregular heart beat, which at times left me pretty much in a mess.. I've since had loads of tests and they found I have a strong heart with no heart desease, but I have AF... which basically means the wiring is a bit dodgy... The thing is I'm ok really.. I can't eat/drink certain things an I have pills to take... but I still surf, I still kite an am very active.. I'm really lucky really.. an awful lot of people, young people too, just have a huge fatal heart attack, with no warning.. I'm lucky, I know I have a problem and I can take precautions..

I want to help people and their families who haven't had the chance I have.. So please help me!
This is the plan.. Myself and my friend, Giles Fletcher are going to Paddle surf (SUP) from, west of Bath to London on the river/canal networks.. its a min of 150 miles on a big surfboard with a paddle... Our aim is to complete it by end of June, with an event of some sort on the beach in brighton at the "paddle round the pier" festival 2nd an 3rd of July..

We will do it at weekends - with an aim to do 20/40 miles a day - the furthest either of us have paddled is 15 miles, it took all day an we were broken!!.. so its gonna be no mean feat!! Also taking beta blockers leaves me feeling a bit low on energy and motivation, so personally goiong to be a mental challenge too... By doing it at weekends, means that friends and anyone who wants to, can join us either on the water or cycling/walking along the bank..

We will have a facebook page an update where we are and how its going

Thanx for taking the time to look an help us... Sean...
