After 12 awesome festivals on the Isle of White, Europe’s premier ticketed extreme sports and music festival, White Air, moves to Brighton Beach.
The 2009 festival programme will feature this year's number-one selling success story, post-punk quartet White Lies, cult indie-rockers The Cribs and hometown legends, British Sea Power alongside other established acts and some of the hottest new bands around.
2 nights of music and 3 days of fantastic extreme sports such as World High Diving displays from a 30m tower into a 3m pool, Windsurfing, Thundercats, Jet Skis,
Mixed Martial Arts, Scuba Diving…and lots, lots more. At White Air’s core is a huge Urban Freesports Park with the biggest and best ramps to be seen anywhere – more than ten sports including Skate, BMX, Inline, Parkour, Mtn bike, Mtn Board, Streetboard, Streetdance, Graff jams, and guaranteed adrenaline rushes for all.
Almost all of the 40 sports at White Air will have a ‘Have a Go’ element where visitors can watch top sports men and women, then ‘have a go’ themselves with tuition from the world’s best.
Nigel Howell, World Champion Windsurfer and Kitesurfer and White Air’s Founder: “We’re so excited to be moving White Air to Brighton where we can reach a larger audience in an amazing beach side location less than an hour from London”.
Laurence Kaye, White Air Director:“Have a Go’ is what makes White Air unique. Why watch sport when you can participate. We give our audience the opportunity to try new sports for the first time with training and advice from some of the world’s very best athletes and sportsmen”.
Mayor of Brighton and Hove Council, Councillor Ann Norman:“We are very excited that White Air is coming to Brighton & Hove in September. We have fantastic facilities to offer. Our City has a large community of young people who will be attracted to these sports, and we look forward to a successful event this year and in future years.”
