How to get the most out of your new App!
- Create your account: (Don't worry, you'll only have to do this once!) After downloading your app you'll first be taken to the login screen. If you have no account yet, hit "Create New Account" at the bottom of the screen. On the next screen add your 'name' and 'email' and hit "Create Your Account Now". Now check your email for your password for your new account. (If you can't find an email it's likely to be in your 'spam' or 'trash' folder!).
Hit the 'back' button (top left) to take you back to the login screen and now type in your email and new password. You're in!
Once you've logged in your phone should always stay logged in unless the phone's turned off. However it's advisable to change your password straight away to something you'll remember.
- Change your password: If you want to change this to something more memorable, goto "My Profile", hit 'edit' (top right). Type in your new password (At least 8 characters and must include letters and numbers). Type it in again below. Hit 'Save' (top right). Then type in the original password and 'Done'. Your password has now been changed.
- Changing your profile picture: Goto "My Profile", hit 'edit' (top right). Then hit "Change Image". You will then be able to select a photo from your image library. This image will then change automatically (no need to hit 'save'). It may take a few seconds to update depending on the signal.
- Your surf reports will appear on your "Home" page. But first you need to make some friends to see others!
Remember, the more friends you have the more reports you will see. Find friends by going to your "Contacts" page. Hit 'Search' then type in names or part names to search for friends. Tell as many friends as you can to use it. This will then save you calling them everytime you're at the beach and likewise you'll be able to see where they are surfing during the day and what the waves are like at each beach. If you're the first of your friends to get the app start using the app and start uploading reports. The app will then work out where you surf and will start to suggest friends that surf near you. You can then send friend requests to local surfers and start up your own surf reporter community. To find suggested friends goto the "Contacts" page and hit 'Search'. Then click on the "Suggest New Contacts" button. To build up a community, friend request as many people as you like. Remember the more you use the app at different beaches the app will find more friends to suggest, and the more friends you have the more eyeballs you will see.
- See basic surf reports worldwide: You can see basic surf reports from surfers worldwide. Go to the "Places" page which will already be loaded with your nearest beaches. Hit any beach to see what reports have been uploaded recently for that beach and all the beaches nearby. Also at the bottom of each beach's page you will find the tide times for that beach (UK and US only at the moment).
You can check for surf reports anywhere in the world. Goto the "Map" page and search for spots anywhere. Just by zooming in and out of the map to find certain beaches around the world and by tapping a pin (each pin marks a surf spot) you will be taken to a page that displays recentreports for that and other nearby breaks.
- When traveling abroad or out of your area, goto the 'Map' page and click on where am I and the map will pin-point you. Then move around the map to find nearby beaches (pins). Click on the pins to check for any local reports. These reports will only be basic but still very useful when you are away looking for waves. You will only see the full surf reports with photos and messages uploaded by your friends
